Large library management & file management?

First off, I've been DJing just over 2 decades. I went fully digital between 2004-2005 (VDJ, Scratch Live) and I play way too many genres to mention.

I switched to Serato when I got a NS7 with itch and took a year to completely switch to iTunes for music management... I currently have over 200k tracks and is in the process of switching from iTunes/Apple Music to files and crates.

My question is this! Can I use mixo to handle my music files in a similar fashion as iTunes did? If not, can I basically sync my folders and folder structures to Mixo playlists and in turn sync them to the dj app of choice (Serato crates or maybe Rekordbox)?

Hi,

Absolutely! One of the main features of MIXO is the ability to organize your tracks into playlists and folders as well as manage their meta data. All of this will be synced across your devices.

As far as syncing MIXO directly to Serato or Rekordbox, we're not quite there yet so this needs to be done manually by going to Settings > Export > (whichever DJ app you use) and then importing this file into that software. So it's not automatic yet but it is on our roadmap:

If you have any further questions about how MIXO works or need help, just let me know!

Thanks,

Jon

Hi,

All of your tracks will stay exactly where they are. Once MIXO has imported your Traktor collection, it will reference the filepaths the same way Traktor does - you will need to make sure that this path stays the same, for instance if they are on your D drive, MIXO will always look for them on your D drive.

If you are synced to your cloud, the tracks will be uploaded in the same folder structure as on your local computer and if you want to download them onto a second computer via your cloud you can do that also. Or simply stream them from your cloud. Your original local library remains the source and nothing will be moved or removed by MIXO.

I hope that helps. but please let me know if you have any more questions!

Thanks,

Jon

Okay so I import my all tracks collection from traktor it was around 9000 files but when it finished there is popup came up and its says not able to find the tracks. First i thought its few of them but as i scroll down i saw it was all my library.

That would suggest that the filepath for each track is either missing or incorrect.

Could you attach your NML file?

Also, make sure you are on the latest version of Traktor and MIXO and that when you export your collection you untick Copy Tracks to location.

Let me know how you get on.

Hey djhereafterofficial,

I'm sorry for not responding sooner - looks like I missed this message from you, really sorry about that!

I can't see the nml file so I'm not sure it attached, feel free to attach it to an email and send it to team@mixo.dj and I'll take a look.

Usually when MIXO can't find the tracks in a file it means either there isn't a filepath for the tracks (for Traktor this happens when Copy tracks to destination is checked when exporting the collection file) or the filepath is there but incorrect, this can happen when tracks are moved but Traktor hasn't done a search for them, so click on your collection in Traktor and click Check Consistency - this will make sure it can find all of them.

Thanks,

Jon

Hey!

We've released v0.35 since this was raised and have not been able to replicate. Could you try on the latest version and see if you are still having this issue with your NML?

Make sure to Reset MIXO before trying again.

Hi Jon!

So I give it a try by just exporting a single playlist and it says the same thing no tracks were imported empty database. SO what i did is i export the playlist from traktor with copy the the tracks to location turned on, so the playlist track were in the folder. Then i again tried importing the playlist in Mixo and still says the same thing. There is one thing all my playlist are the ones which i saved from my archive (Its kind of like history of which i played live). I hope this information help you waiting for another solution.

Hey LATINLOVER,

Are you not able to play your uploaded tracks from your phone or directly in your Google drive?

Can you please test with the following steps:

1. Reset MIXO on your Mac and your phone

2. Connect your Google Drive account

3. Import 1 track and wait for it to upload

4. Open MIXO on your phone and see if the track plays

Let us know how you get on!

Hello.

Just wondering if the auto sync feature has been established. If I do a XML of my entire library to Mixo, how will will it get updated when I have new songs? Also, If I do an entire XML back up again to Mixo, will it duplicate the songs already there?

Hey Juan,

To answer your first question, sadly not yet! This feature is one of the most popular and we get why. We will be looking at new features very soon.

https://support.mixo.dj/t/auto-sync

Currently, you will need to import your XML each time to update with new tracks, but this will not duplicate any files so long as the filepaths haven't changed.
