Undefined Playlists and XML Import fail

Hi Team,

I'm keen to get this working, and managed to drag and drop a couple of tracks into the system which it accepted.

I then moved onto a playlist (Exported from RB 5.8.5) which it accepted, but when I tried to export, it created a strange file named (my playlist name).undefined

I of course couldn't import this into anything, until I renamed the file suffix as M3U, then no problem.

Then back within Mixo -I clicked on the imported playlist, and half of the tracks refuse to play or show waveform. Most of my music is from Bandcamp and is ALAC, there seemed to be no obvious reason for these problems...

Finally - I tried to import a Rekordbox XML - Progress parse said completed, and the other fields just said ready. I actually left it on all night as my library is large at 35k. Nothing happened!

Anyway - I don't even know where to start.

Spec

Win 10 Pro 64

intel i7-7700hq

16gb Ram

The only thing I think could be a problem, is that I am a build behind on Windows at version 1909. It refuses to update. May have to clear the entire system and start again if this is an issue for your build!

Hi Toby,

That is an interesting bug and one that I haven't seen before so thank you for letting us know!

Firstly, could you please send us the following files which should help us determine the issue.

1. The playlist you exported from Rekordbox originally.

2. One of the ALAC files in question and the playlist.undefined file that MIXO exported (or export a new one if you can reproduce the same thing again).

3. Finally, go to Settings > General > Tools > Enable Logs to make sure they are on, then import a handful of tracks again (100 would be good) and navigate to your Music > MIXO > Logs folder and send us the files there. If you get a message saying the tracks are already imported then delete the tracks in MIXO or go to Settings > Debug > Reset MIXO for a fresh empty library.

Send these to support@mixo.dj to make sure we get them all.

I don't think your Windows build should be a problem as we have it working on older versions of Windows.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,

Jon

Hi Jon,

Many thanks for your super swift reply.

I will get that put in a zip for you shortly and attach.

Just to clarify in regard to importing music, shoud I be importing all of the individual tracks BEFORE importing the XML?

I assumed that the XML would point to all of the files, and thus import them.

The only other thing that crossed my mind, is that I use an iTunes workaround that enables half star ratings (like the good old days!) - in the Mixo list, these come up as no stars (much like Rekordbox) - now, the MP3 tracks seem to play with a zero star rating, however, the ALACs I tested do not. I will test further files to clarify this and get back to you on this thread.

I also cannot drag and drop any sort of file or folder into the import track section.

I'm not winning!!

Thanks for sending the files through, I'm going to take a look this morning and see what I can find.

You only need to import one version of your library, so either the XML file from Rekordbox or iTunes or via the tracks import.

MIXO has the ability to show half star ratings too so it's odd that it's making them zero but it could be the mod. What is the workaround you are using for iTunes?

Can you also double check that you are on the latest version of the app, it should be version 0.19.0. If not I suggest downloading again from here.

Thanks!

OK - Problem is ALAC - MP3 Play fine - First ALAC file said it was missing - either 3.5 star or 4 star.

Here's the link to the test folder - popped it in a rar with the extra ALAC and MP3 from my last test...

Hi - I'm on 0.19.0.

The iTunes mod is a tiny script - you just run the line below to amend a parameter rather than digging into the file yourself!

"C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes\iTunes.exe" /setPrefInt allow-half-stars 1

Hi Toby,

I've had a look at the files you sent through (thanks for ordering these, really appreciated!) and I have also been able to replicate the issue with my own playlists.

Therefore it is an issue with m3u exports entirely, rather than your files that are causing it. I've created an idea and subscribed you to it so you'll be notified when it's fixed.

https://support.mixo.dj/t/2226-undefined-playlists

For the ALAC issue, I've discussed this with the team and we are aware of it and working on a fix.

https://support.mixo.dj/t/2227-alac-files-not-playing-in-mixo

For the Rekordbox XML issue, could you send this through as well, sorry I should have asked for this initially! If the RB XML file does not contain the ratings then MIXO won't import them. Essentially, the ratings need to be saved as metadata to the tracks - or be saved as part of the database file, which they should be in this case.

Thanks,

Jon

No Problem

As I said, I'd love to have this up and working, so will help as best I can!

Here is a link to the RB XML that I exported the other day.

Thanks Toby,

I'll take a look at the RB file and let you know if I find anything.
