Rekordbox Phrases

I am very new to using phrases with Rekordbox, but as I understand it they are stored in the xml file for Rekordbox - please correct me if I am saying anything off.

If I

1. manage music on computer #1

2. edit the phrases and export my rekordbox XML and import it into Mixo on computer #1 then on 3. on computer #2 make any changes like adding a playlist

4. on computer #1 export Mixo with this new playlist to XML to import into Rekordbox

I would no longer keep the phrases analyzed and editied by Rekordbox in step #2?

Thanks and sorry for the confusion!

You can remove iTunes from your workflow completely and just use MIXO.

Your playlists can be exported from MIXO to Rekordbox.

So your workflow could look something like this:

1. Export your Rekordbox collection to MIXO

2. Manage your playlists and tracks

3. Export your playlists from MIXO to Rekordbox

Any changes that you make to tracks in MIXO will update the tracks in your Rekordbox collection e.g. cue points, track info.

As long as you don't remove the analysed tracks from Rekordbox you can use MIXO and keep the phrases.

Hey

I've done some research and Rekordbox doesn't currently export phrase information in the XML.

You're right that you wouldn't keep the phrases from step 2, Rekordbox would re-analyse the phrases when you import the Tracks.

We're pretty new to phrases too so I'll let you know if I find out any more.

Thanks for the info Miles! I really appreciate it.

My ultimate goal is to keep phrases in Rekordbox, so I'd either just only do a one way export and then use Mixo to create my playlists etc and then recreate the playlists in Rekordbox at a later point perhaps.

I was wondering your thoughts on if I instead used iTunes as my method for sharing tracks -

1. Computer 1 has all of my music managed in iTunes. I analyze tracks in Rekordbox as well for phrases

2. Import my iTunes XML into Mixo

3. Create playlists in Mixo on my phone as an example

4. Export on computer 1 as iTunes XML, then import to iTunes

5. Inside Rekordbox use iTunes playlists

I think in this case since the Rekordbox XML is not being updated, that I would keep my phrase information.

The only thing I am unsure about is that if I am exporting an iTunes XML playlist from Mixo and importing it into iTunes on computer 1, does this computer 1's import know the correct local storage locations or does everything in this case need to be downloaded and then managed in the Music/Mixo/Music folder?

Sorry if I am wording that strangely
