Missing files on Prime Go

When exporting Mixo to Engine, everything seems to work fine. Problem occurs when exporting Engine to SD card, as there are several songs missing in the device (Prime Go non Plus). I've identified the problem as the filename of the songs (I'm using FLAC) having weird characters (I use a lot of music in Spanish). I do not have this issue if I import the file directly to Engine (bypassing Mixo). My SD is formatted as exFat.

My guess is that Engine is aware of the limitation and adds a workaround step that Mixo is not implementing? In any case, I've added a step to my workflow where I clean up filenames before importing into MIXO, but would like to have MIXO take care of it by itself.

Thanks!

Hi there,

Are you using MIXO to export directly to your SD card?

It's only designed to export to desktop.

We have a new beta feature getting released soon where you can export to a USB (or SD card in your case) and it also copies the tracks over and updates the file paths in the database. This seems to work well.

It is as Carl mentioned. To put files into the SD, I go Mixo -> Engine -> SD. In the Mixo to Engine, the export seems to work fine (the files show on Engine). But when exporting from Engine to SD, the files are not located by the player (the music file IS IN THE SD THOUGH! but the player says "file not found" and it's greyed out).

Removing special characters from the FILE NAME before loading into MIXO fixes the issue. So it's likely a bug in how the Engine export DB is created when dealing with special characters

Much appreciated! I'll have a look at how they handle it and should be able to adapt the logic accordingly.

I'll keep you posted 👍

I can't actually see any difference between the file paths and names that MIXO writes to the Engine database, vs a direct import into the database for the same track. There are no conversions that I can see.

Can you give me an example of a file name that doesn't work on the external drive?

Sure - I have a file with name El Niño y la Verdad - DILE.flac

If I import as it is to Mixo and then export to engine and then to SD, the player would have file greyed out. If I remove the "ñ" from the file name before importing into Mixo, everything works as expected.

I read on the Engine DJ forum that this is a known bug. However, one user suggested a work around...

1. After first sync to the external device, tracks with special characters appear red and don't load.

2. BUT if you unmount the drive after the initial transfer, then mount it again, all previous red tracks work perfectly!

Please can you test this suggestion and let me know if it works?

Hi guys did you try the suggested workaround to see if that solves the issue with special characters?

Hi Remko, haven't had the chance! I've had a busy week with events. You rolled out a DJay export update which saved me these last events so I have been using that instead of the Engine Mode of my Prime Go. Will text next week and get back to you! Thanks for all your help!

I have the same problem with my Mixstream Pro Go, Special characters seem to be a problem. In my Case (german) Ä,Ü,Ö and the like.

Problem exists when when exporting Mixo to EngineDJ and then from Engine DJ to the SD/USB. I think it there is something going wrong with the character-conversion in the Engine DJ database.

You mean You can directly make an Engine DJ compatible USB/SD for use in the devices without the Engine DJ Software? That would be incredible! Where is the Beta? Would be glad to test!

Great info, thanks! I'll investigate.

I doubt the USB export will make a difference in this case.

Hi, this is how the files are in the apps. Öspiel is another example.

By the way, here's the latest beta version with the direct export for Engine DJ USB:

https://www.mixo.dj/download/beta/MIXO-1.83.1.dmg

Let me know if that works differently, or if the suggestion earlier made any difference.
