BPM wrong when importing to Rekordbox from Serato

Hello,

I just imported a collection from Serato to Rekordbox, but when I open the songs on Rekordbox on some of them the grid and the BPM tempo are wrong. I've imported to rekordbox using the guide using also the procedure to solve the XML bug, and also the BPMs are correct in Mixo.

What could be the problem?
Thank you!

Hi there,

That's very strange indeed, since the BPM comes from the track's tags, which is saved to MIXO during analysis and that's the value that gets exported to Rekordbox.

If the BPM you see is correct in MIXO but wrong in Rekordbox it sounds like Rekordbox is reanalysing it and saving a different value.

One way you can check this is by searching in your XML for a particular track and check the averageBpm value to see if it matched MIXO.

Let me know the result!

Thank you for the super fast reply. I also think it’s an issue with rekordbox analyzing.

I’ve checked in the xml but I don’t find a “averageBpm” value, just the BPM, and those are correct.

The weirdest thing is that once the song is uploaded in my collection from the xml, also there the bpm looks good, but when I load it on the deck it’s wrong. I attached a photo with this example (sorry for the quality)

Thank you!

I didn't see the attachment, sorry.

I'm glad the values are all correct in MIXO and the exported XML. It must be a Rekordbox quirk.

Please do post back here if you find out any more information that might help other users :)

Thank you! It was indeed an issue with the first time I imported in Rekordbox. I then deleted my whole rekordbox library and reimported using the guide and not letting rekordbox re-analyze.
I still encounter another issue though now: the beatgrid is on some songs a couple of beats off than what it was in Serato. Does that get written into the export file or does rekordbox have to reanalyze that?
Thank you!

At the moment the beatgrid in not transferred from Serato to Rekordbox. Besides, there is a such a huge variation between beatgrid formats in each DJ app that they don't transfer very well in general! Probably best to reanalyse in Rekordbox.

Oh this is unfortunate... is there a possibility/plan that this function will be possible in the future or likely won´t happen?

Yes we are looking into improvements for Serato and MIXO beatgrids

I have an update on this - in the next release we will import Serato beatgrids, which means they can also be exported to different apps. Again, the data consists of essentially just a BPM and offset, so each app may still need to build it's own beatgrid, but at least we're doing everything we can!

I'll let you know when it's live, in about 1 week or so.

I'm pleased to announce that MIXO v1.60 is now live with a heap of new features, fixes and improvements!

We've also migrated all our users to a new super fast cloud database, so you'll need to update to MIXO v1.60 and reset your password to continue:
