RB Library already in cloud

Hello

Until recently I've used Rekordbox's cloud sync features, which are good but expensive. I have my own Dropbox account anyway so I thought Mixo might be a good choice for me.

All my music is already in Dropbox. Will Mixo copy it to a new location there, effectively duplicating the library, or can it just reference where the tracks are already stored?

If it does duplicate it, can I switch the libraries/storage location without losing anything? How do I do that?

Hope you can help.

Hi Tim,

Unfortunately MIXO needs to upload the tracks in order to save the unique ID for each track.

Even if reusing existing tracks was possible, the process would be slow and result in inaccurate matching between local and cloud tracks.

How do you play your music in Rekordbox? Is it also stored locally? I'm wondering if it might be possible to offer some sort of cross-compatibility with Rekordbox Dropbox paths when importing into MIXO.

Do you have an example Rekordbox XML you could send me with some tracks that are in Dropbox? You can email it to me via team@mixo.dj.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Remko,

Thanks for the super-fast response :)

I've emailed you an XML - if you don't see it please check junk/spam as my emails sometimes end up there!

It's stored locally on my MacBook, but in the Dropbox folder. It's mostly using RB file paths as much of it was added during the time I had an upgraded Rekordbox plan.

However mostly I play my music now via USB in my XDJ-XZ - hence downgrading from RB.

I do like the idea of being able to edit music etc. on the go, but it might just be that Mixo isn't a good fit for me at this time.

Best regards,

Tim

looks like emailing the xml created another ticket - https://support.mixo.dj/ticket/5123

You can download it and delete that one, no sense having two tickets going (I work in support too so I feel your pain....)

Thanks Tim.

That was me, because when you replied to this thread via email it just adds a comment, so I removed your comment and added a private ticket ;)

I appreciate you trying to alleviate my workload though - always welcome!

Anyway... as your music is local (I can see the paths in the XML) I can't see a solution to this scenario unfortunately, other than the standard method of letting MIXO upload your tracks.

There's just no way to efficiently link the tracks you import to the tracks in the cloud, to enable authenticated streaming/downloading on other devices.

You could run a few tests by importing and uploading a small playlist, just to see how MIXO works, where the music uploads to and how you feel about it. Then take it from there!

Best of luck - please feel free to contact me if you have any further questions.

Hi Remko,

Ah no worries, I was just trying to avoid duplication. I should have left you to do your job in peace :)

Thank you for this. I don't think it's going to work for me unfortunately - it's adding complication, not making life easier. If I was coming to Mixo from a totally locally stored collection then it would be a no-brainer, looks like a great product.

I've just signed up for Mixo Gold - if I cancel it now will I still be charged? Can you help me with that?

Best regards,

Tim

Sure - I've downgraded your account and requested a refund. The refund can take 5-10 working days to appear on your account.

All the best,
