I used to be able to import all my files on my external hard drive that were in my serato crate to MIXO now the only tracks that are showing up are the ones that are on my local hard drive how can I get it back to the way it was when it imported both local and external? Thank you.

Hi there,

Serato is a tricky one and for some weird reason saves crates containing tracks from other drives in additional _Serato_ folders on the drive.

All you need to do is change the folder on the import page to the Subcrates folder on your external drive and MIXO will import those crates as well.

Ok great so if I do that I will be back to having both?

Exactly, you should do. Let me know how it goes!

Unfortunately when I switched it to the sub crates on the external I then don’t have the files on the local drive. How can I keep both?

Just to clarify, if all of your tracks in a crate are stored on the same drive, everything should work perfectly. When re-importing existing crates MIXO accurately reflects any changes.

In the case of Serato, if you have 15 tracks in a crate, where 10 are local and 5 are on an external drive, Serato saves one crate locally with 10 file paths and one crate on your external drive with 5 file paths.

This causes a problem in MIXO because when you re-import an existing playlist, the playlist tracks are replaced with the new import (designed to accurate reflect any changes exported from your DJ software). So if you import a crate locally, then import the same crate on your external drive, you'd end up with only the tracks from the second import.

I hope this helps!

Yeah I have the files from the external but now lost the locals. Is there a way to import from both so I can have them both or is there a way that you know that I can tell Serato to store them both in one location so I have access to them all? Thank you.

I don't think there's any setting to avoid this unfortunately. It's such a weird design!

Did you import from both drives?

Or do you mean you have playlists containing both local and external drive tracks in the playlist and they get replaced with only the tracks from second drive you import from?

Yes I imported from both drives but when I switched to the external I lost the ones from the local in my MIXO crate. Trying to figure out to keep both like I had before.

Can I import from both so I have everything I would from my Serato crate?

Only by renaming one of the crates. Then you'd end up with both crates but each crate would contain tracks from it's drive.

Even if we could amalgamate the crates from different drives based on playlist name, the tracks would be in a random order, so you'd still have to manually sort them out.

If there was a better way we'd do it but Serato has over-complicated things!
