Smart Playlist feedback (Traktor missing & MIXO implementation)

1. Smart playlist import from Traktor is totally missing. I think this is essential to be able to say you can import a DJs Traktor Collection. MIXO import is not reflective of the Traktor collection.

2. Implementation of Smart Playlists within MIXO itself is very limited.

a) It's lacking in fields available.

b) The criteria is limited to a specific tag. You can not do for example, starts with. The use of 'tag' for a criteria is very limited and confusing. I'd recommend just freeform text in conjunction with better condition definition.

c) They aren't editable. Not a huge deal, but makes sense to be able to edit them.

Hi Remko,

Thanks, good to know you're looking into it.

I figure out as a workaround if I create the Smart Playlists in Rekordbox, importing the collection from XML does not clear them out, so seems I can get the standard playlists from MIXO export and retain smart playlists that way. Pretty much an end-to-end solution for Traktor to Rekordbox with a few hacks ;)

Hi Jack,

Excellent news - good thinking!

Remember you can also export the smart list from Traktor as NML and import it separately. Although your solution means you still have an active smart list in Rekordbox.

Anyway, thanks again for excellent your feedback!

Hello,

I think it is very important to have editable smart playlists, having the ability to change the smart criteria is quite useful.

I was working today with smart playlists and I think that the criteria should have options of "or" "and" because as they are right now the criteria is "or", for example I created a smart playlist for "Genre: House" with "Rating: 3 Stars" and a Custom Tag, what I want is that only the songs that meet the 3 criteria go into the smart playlist, but right now all songs with "House (Genre)" go to the playlist even if they don't have 3 stars and the Custom Tag, as well all songs that are rated 3 stars go into the playlist even if they are not "House", this behavior is an "or" operator and I would really like it if it was an "and" operator for this would make working with smart playlists better.

Great idea!

We're working on improving MIXO smart playlists so we'll include an option to make it "Match all" or "Match any".

Thanks!

Unfortunately it takes forever to read the nml. Spent 6 hours so far, not finished.

Hi there,

Reading the NML should take seconds, so quit MIXO and try again!

My NML is 100 MB and contains 70000 tracks. But Even parsing a 624 kb file (fresh from newly installed Traktor) never finishes.

Firstly, make sure the fresh NML contains at least one playlist with a track. Then it will be instant.

Secondly, make sure you restart MIXO and ensure it has enough free memory to parse, since 70,000 tracks with cues and beatgrids is fairly significant!

Ok so if it's still happening please email me your NML. There must be a problem.

Thanks!

Also, please make sure you are on the latest version which is 1.66.2, which has all the latest NML fixes.

There was a parsing error in 1.66.0, fixed in 1.66.1 and then 1.66.2 fixed some missing smartlists, all thanks to some quick user feedback!

If you're running 1.66.2 and still unable to parse, please email me your NML.

Let me know either way!

Did you check you were on 1.66.2 and not 1.66.0?
