Tried to import my Serato library, 2 days later it was still importing.

Solved

I wanted to try Mixo because I want to centralize my track management and I like the face there is a mobile app.

However, I tried to import my database via unc share on my studio PC because it's the fastest system in my lab. Also, I do all my track processing on it as well. Analysis in Serato, tagging with Dr. Tag, cue point generation with MIK.

I want to use Mixo to take care of updating the Serato library with new tracks as I add them. I've been using Alchimie Zinc on my Macbook to do this after processing. But I want to do this all from my studio PC now.

The problem I ran into is I tried to import my library and let it run over two days now and it was still processing. So I had to cancel it.

What can I do?

Hi there,

It sounds like something might have stopped working there.

How large is your library? Was it still analysing the tracks or had it stalled?

Thanks

I have a large library, it's pushing almost 170k tracks right now. I got into the Digital DJ game early, late 2002.

The Preparing Data indicator kept spinning and spinning and the application didn't lock up.

I cleared the appdata folder to start fresh and turned this option on.

Hopefully it will work the second time around.

Tried it again the crates are showing up in Mixo but 0 tracks even though it stopped processing.

So there is definitely something going on here.

Sounds like a worker might have failed somewhere along the line, which is when the UI remains operational but the process hangs.

It shouldn't take that long to build the analysis queue. Normally it adds about 500 tracks per second to the queue, then analysis begins. So in your case it should take 6 minutes.

Excluding waveforms is great for speeding up analysis but not before it starts.

I think the best option is to import a few playlists at a time.

Are you importing from the Serato page?

Perhaps you have convenient folder structure to add a folder at a time, thus doing several playlists at once?

I'm importing from the subcrates folder in the _serato_ location over the network.

It's grabbing the crates because I can see them in Mixo but doesn't import any of the tracks, just the crates.

Going to check for a log file.

What happens if you select a single crate and import it?

Something strange is going on. I tried to import a crate with seven tracks and it just sits and spins.

That is strange! I suggest you quit and try again. Also make sure you're on the latest version.

I'm running version .70

I'm going to try again.

Yeah it's not working, just sits there preparing. Any log files I can check?

Hi, I haven't been able to replicate this issue.

Would you like to book a screenshare session with me to show me what's happening?

You can do that here:
https://calendly.com/mixodj/screenshare

Alternatively you could send me a quick video.

Once thing you could try is re-installing MIXO, just to rule out any issues with the installation.

Let me know your preference!

Ok thanks. We'll investigate this issue and let you know as soon as we'll have an update.

Really appreciate your help!

No problem

Just to follow up on this, I did try a fresh install to rule everything out and it did the same thing.

I can do the screenshare at some point because I don't think a video will capture the problem entirely.

Good morning!

I've just re-read all of our correspondence and can see where the problem most like is.

You mentioned you are accessing the _Serato_ /Subcrates folder over a shared network, which means the file paths may be in UNC format rather than local format.

Could you send me a small crate file to investigate please?

Thanks!

Hello Remko,

Yes I'm trying to use Mixo to manage a Serato DB on my macbook over the lan from my Windows studio pc.

I am using the unc path as the source path in Mixo to load the subcrates folder from macbook over the lan.

I'm assuming that this is not possible.

Hi there,

I don't think it's possible because the file paths inside the crate will be saved by Serato in local format, so when MIXO tries to import them it won't find them.

Ok thanks for the heads up.

Hi there,

I'm pleased to announce that MIXO v1.5 is now live with a new desktop to desktop sync feature called "External Hard Drive Sync"!

This feature means you don't need to upload every track and you can plug and play a hard drive in to any computer.

This might also work for your use case, so please do let me know!
