Traktor to Mixo, most Cover Art's missing or not shown

Hello,

After having imported Traktor Pro 3 library by Mixo (Windows Desktop) most of the Cover's/Art's are missing. No more visible on Mixo, same on export (VDJ or Serato) or even when reading the mp3files with MP3TAG. There are a few exceptions, a few of the cover appears.

However they are all correctly presented when re-opening by Traktor itself.

I'm quiet sure the pics are well included within the mp3 files and earlier I was able to see them through MP3TAG.

Is it possible the MIXO import has changed something on the format?

Any hints?

Thank you

Hi there,

Just to confirm, you imported Traktor NML into MIXO, but no artwork is showing? Did you wait for analysis to complete? Did you do any other actions?

MIXO only extracts the artwork and saves it locally.

If the artwork exists in the files, you can try the context menu (right-click) 'Re-Analyse Tracks' option, then check the box for 'Update Artwork (from ID3 tags)'. This will retrieve any missing artwork if it exists in the track.

I hope this helps!

Hello Remko,

if I'm adding a new track to Traktor and do re-import of the traktor-nml, then this track has the art/cover included.

All the others are missing.

So yes, re-analysis, as you suggested, could help.

Unfortunately I can't find the re-analyze option in the context menu!?

For this, are you referring to Mixo or to Traktor?

Thank you

Hi Danny,

So you're talking about the 'Import Playlist' option in Traktor?

When you 'Import Playlist' or 'Import another Collection' NML, Traktor does not save artwork during analysis.

The only time it saves artwork is when you import tracks directly into Traktor. Absolutely crazy in my opinion!

This is a Traktor bug and seems to have been around for a while! Check out these threads:

Sorry we can't help with this.

Hello Remko,

no I am talking about the import function on MIXO, Mixo is importing the traktor nml file.

And I am asking where to fing the action you suggested:

"If the artwork exists in the files, you can try the context menu (right-click) 'Re-Analyse Tracks' option, then check the box for 'Update Artwork (from ID3 tags)'."

Thank you once more

Oh sorry! If you select the tracks without artwork, right-click, then 'Re-Analyse tracks'. In the modal, check the box for 'Update artwork (from ID3 tags)' - see image attached

If your tracks have artwork, this should fix it.

Let me know if it works!

My bad, I was not clearly enough.

Ok got it, re-analyse was bit more time consuming this time, but still completed in less then 5 minutes (for 5000 tracks)

Now in Mixo I can see some more cover/art's, but still most are missing.

When scrolling up/down I can see "track image" that pops up as text for some of them.

My question now, do I need to wait any longer?

I've already done "reload" in Mixo, no change, most are still missing.

Should I proceed with the export to see if they will appear on Serato instead?

Thank you

Right-click any of those tracks and 'Show in explorer" - then you should be able to see if those tracks show artwork in explorer.

Once analysis has completed, the artwork should be there. Certainly after reload.

Did the artwork disappear after importing to MIXO from Traktor NML? Was it there in Traktor?

Hello Remko,

when you say "show in explorer", do you refer to Mixo or Traktor?

I've tried both but no luck, in windows explorer no artwork is shown.

In Traktor I have 5000 tracks and all are showing the artwork when using this software.

When importing to Mixo I can see a folder "ARTWORK" is created and after import completion it contains 218 JPG files (min 15 to max 32 KB size), all others are not listed.

The same problem when I edit all the music library with MP3TAG.

The strange thing is, after the first import, 4 days ago and today, I've added 12 new tracks to the Traktor library. These ones do all appear with the ARTWORK included on Mixo-Import. The files are from exactly the same source/app as the older ones, so it can't be related to a different format or something similar.

Might it be I need to idle a cache somewhere?

How can we find out why Mixo doesn't collect all the Artworks?

Thank you again

Danny

Hi Danny,

In MIXO, you can right-click any track and "Show in explorer" to open the folder on your computer where that track is. This way you can see if the artwork exists in the track itself.

In your case, it sounds like after editing your tracks with MP3TAG, the artwork was lost.

MIXO and Traktor both extract artwork from the tracks themselves and save them separately, so the artwork will still show even if it was later removed from the track itself.

Unfortunately, Traktor encrypts its saved artwork, making it impossible to use anywhere else.

Just to clarify - if the track contains artwork, MIXO will extract during analysis after you import the track. If there is no artwork for a track in MIXO, it does not exist in the track.

Ok thank you

No idea why they become lost.

A last question, do you know if there is any app that automatically re-assigns coverart's to mp3 files from the web

Tks

You could try iTunes/Music. Here's some info I found:

To retrieve album artwork from the iTunes Store for your entire library, choose File > Library > Get Album Artwork.

Although I'm not sure how to save it to the tracks themselves?

Hi Danny,

I found a way of getting artwork into your tracks really easily...

It doesn't work for all tracks, but it worked for most of mine!

1. Add the tracks (without artwork) to a playlist in iTunes/Music app.
2. Select all the tracks.
3. Go to File -> Library -> 'Get Album Artwork'.
4. Once it completes, go to your Music folder and find iTunes -> Music.

Inside the iTunes Music folder you should find duplicates of all the tracks you just added, complete with artwork!

Then you have the option of replacing your original tracks (without artwork) with these tracks (with artwork).

However, before replacing any tracks, you should make sure that the duplicate tracks still contain customised metadata and cue points etc. If not, don't delete your original tracks!

Anyway, it's just a suggestion - good luck!
