Exporting playlists to Traktor with files from external harddrive is slow or not working

I'm trying to export all my playlists to Traktor and I've stored a lot of the music on an external harddrive, I tried exporting everything which didn't seem to do anything for over an hour, the buttons in the app become unusable indicating a freeze, but the progress wheel is still spinning. I quit then exported one playlist (180 songs) where most songs were stored locally and it was instant, then I tried with a different one with 102 songs all stored on the external drive and again it got stuck. M3U and Rekordbox exports are instant for the whole library. DJXML fails, log file says, example:

"2025-04-23T18:37:35.552Z - Failed to Analyse - Skrillex - Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites (Deluxe Tour Edition) Ve751ftvfH, Error with track"

This is probably because I tried to add albums to mixo, but the software didn't recognize the folder as an album and instead saved the titles as empty tracks, which I deleted and didn't add to any playlists, but they're still stored somewhere in the software causing this error. So there seems to be two problems happening at the same time.

Hi there,

Are you on the same device where you imported your music into MIXO?

Have you changed any other settings in MIXO?

Do the tracks work in MIXO?

Have you tried restarting MIXO and checking the permissions?

Sometimes a fresh install of MIXO can refresh permissions, so you could download the latest version from our website and install over the top of the existing app. Sometimes this forces permission prompts to reappear when required.

Hi, yes same device, MacBook pro M3, I didn't change other settings except automatic upload, the tracks mentioned are not really tracks but mixo thought the album folders were tracks as an error during bulk import of a music folder with the albums as subfolders, I removed them from mixo but they're still there somehow. I tried restarting mixo and computer. Reinstalling didn't work.

I’m not entirely sure what the problem is but if you have a load of broken tracks that are not actually tracks (probably also greyed out) it’s most likely those causing problems.

How they got into MIXO is a mystery but my guess is they are hidden files of some kind and maybe we need to add more exclusions when importing files directly from drives.

Could you show me a screenshot of your track list with some of the missing files? Please add the “FilePath” column so I can see the paths clearly.

Thanks!

I also think those are the ones causing the problem, they were greyed out so I deleted them from mixo.

I can't show the missing files as I couldn't replicate the problem with failing to import albums, maybe it was a problem with the last update, I updated after all this stuff was happening. The only trace left is the DJXML error log from yesterday with broken tracks. I also tried to disconnect the external harddrive and re-sync my tracks from the cloud but I still can't export. New error when exporting with djxml is

2025-04-24T17:40:21.339Z - Exporting DJXML by filepath: /Users/elageide/Music/MIXO/Exports/DJXML/djxml.xml: Failed: TypeError: Cannot read properties of null (reading 'substr')

I'm at a loss.

You said the tracks were still there somehow (after deleting from MIXO). What did you mean?

I meant that it seemed like those files were the ones that were stopping the DJXML export since they showed up in the log even after deleting them from the software, so I was assuming that this was the reason the traktor export isn't working. Doesn't quite explain why the rekordbox and m3u are working.

Ok please try Tools/Bad Track Remover.

Then try export to Rekordbox XML, then re-import the XML.

Maybe that will clean any bad data and allow the other exports to work.

If not, please send me your XML and I’ll try to replicate the issue.

Export to rekordbox and import again worked! Although I had to go through a round of deleting duplicates because importing the rekordbox xml duplicated everything. Many tracks are not automatically recognized as duplicates either even though they are fully duplicated with the same FilePaths.

Hmm that shouldn’t be possible! Can you show me a screenshot of good and bad track filePaths in the track list

If you have any left?

Here's a screenshot of how the duplications look in the 'All Tracks' list, they all play audio fine.

How strange, they do look the same. That shouldn’t be possible! How did you import the music originally, was it drag/drop of a folder?

Also strange is that one of each has no artwork. Is that the original track or the new one?

Imported them by downloading from cloud, was transferring songs from a different computer, seems like the original tracks are the ones without artwork. Maybe the duplication happened because I originally downloaded them onto an external disk and since I again redownloaded everything onto the local disk something weird happened during the rekordbox export/import. Although the tracks weren't duplicated after I downloaded, only when I imported the rekordbox xml the number of tracks doubled from 2800 to 5000 something, and now it's 3500 after deleting about 1500 duplicates that were recognized.

So is the export to Traktor working now?

Yes, the export is working. Thanks for the help with that!
