Want to transfer all Beatport pro playlists including metadata into mixo. Thus removing Beatport pro from path and using mixo desktop instead. Once set up will then set up cloud. Can you assist with process to do so. Currently Beatport pro download folders (playlists by date) are currently set up to show in Apple Music dropdown menu in Traktor enabling easy organising into Traktor. Beatport pro captures the music from the download folder on mac

Thanks

Hi there,

I think you need to first import the playlists from the "Music" section (Apple Music) into your Playlists. Then you can export the NML collection and import everything into MIXO.

Ok Thanks Remko. I have all the playlists now showing in MIXO - I have used the back up function. Are all the playlists now secure when you back up as per instructions?

Which backup function was that? In Traktor, Apple Music or MIXO?

hi Remko - MIXO

Ah ok, yes the backup function in MIXO will backup your entire MIXO library, but not the actual audio files.

These file structures

Yes they should all be backed up. You can also make another backup if you like, by exporting to Rekordbox XML or DJXML, then store the file safely.

If you accidentally (or purposely) delete your MIXO library, you can just import the backup file or restore from a MIXO backup.

In MIXO Back up file path

I also use Time Machine so in event I have to hard reset - I should be able to locate the MIXO back up folder in file path in time machine - drag into location and then press restore in MIXO - recovering all music files, meta data and playlist structure?

MIXO does not backup your audio files (the actual tracks), only the library containing metadata, cues, playlists etc. You should backup your audio files separately.

Ok Great. I have the actual tracks backed up as part of Time Machine back ups, so that’s ok. It’s all the library data such as the playlists etc I wanted to confirm (which is all the years hard work)

Hi Remko

I restored from back up and all the music files were restored and playlists including metadata, comments etc. However none of the track artworks were restored. They are in a folder in the back up file but did not appear in tracks and playlists. Any ideas how to recover? Thanks

Oh that's strange it should have moved the Artwork folder back into /Music/MIXO.

If it's not there you can move it manually and restart MIXO.

Otherwise, select all your tracks using the top checkbox, right-click and select Re-Analyse Tracks, then just tick Artwork.

Hi Remko.

The Artwork is already showing in the MIXO folder (and is duplicated in the back up folder as well) all the artwork is showing in both these folders. I reinstalled the MIXO app again and reinstalled and tried the back up process again. This didn’t work. I then tried to reanalyze process and this didn’t work either? Completed several times now but no joy? Any ideas why this is happening ?

Are you on the same computer and do your tracks actually play?

Hi Remko Yes same computer. Tracks play, all other metadata is present.

And you tried this? What happens when you do it?

It runs through scanning/analysing the tracks. And provides a message it has been completed after completes nearly 2,600 tracks. Give message it is completed but MIXO library doesn’t change

So you restored from a backup. The tracks all work and play audio. The artwork is in the folder. But no artwork is shown in the track list and re-analysing doesn't change anything?

That's very confusing.

Do the tracks have waveforms?

Yes. Bizarre indeed. Not sure about waveforms to be honest. They seem to be in back up folder but every track I play in MIXO states “building waveform” at left side on controls panel

The Waveform then appears in the play window. Not sure if it is creating a new one though due to the statement received

Yeah it's creating a new one then. It's almost as if can't access those folders.

One thing you could try is this:

1. Quit MIXO then move the whole MIXO folder in your system Music folder, to your desktop.

2. Restart MIXO and re-analyse 1 track for Artwork and Waveform. This should re-generate the folders.

3. Then select all the artwork and copy/paste into the new Artwork folder. Repeat for waevforms.

Maybe that will fix it!

Hi Remko,

Apologies for delay. Yes that has worked!

Do I just now delete that old folder?

There is a log (xl) DJXML file. Should I copy and paste that across first?

I assume I can just generate a new back up folder in new MIXO folder now as well?

Thanks for your support with this.

Also when do you anticipate getting iCloud integration?

That's great news! I'm really sorry for the hassle. File system permissions can be really tricky sometimes. Good to know for future support!

If you've moved the individual artwork and waveforms from the old folders to the new ones then you can delete the old folders.

The DJXML was the file you imported as part of the restore function, so that's also now redundant.

I would recommend making another backup now, just in case!
